For the love of God.
Continuing from the issues I've already pissed and moaned about in the BF, this latest development seemed more appropriate for the Ach, so here I am.
Having given up on Leopard (£129 down the drain - thank you, Apple) I rolled the machine back to a cloned version of the HDD when it was running 10.4.11 ... Lo and behold, InDesign works again.
Since I finally seemed to have a stable system once more, I decided to set up and install the Wacom Intuos A5 that I treated myself to last week.
Yet more fucking problems. I have pressure support in Photoshop CS3 for flow/opacity but no recognition of tilt, nor can I get the brush size to increase with pressure. There is no pressure support at all in Illustrator CS3.
Painter Essentials that shipped with the tablet likewise acknowledges opacity changes with pressure but will not recognize tilt nor increase brush size.
Additionally, I can only launch the app once - if I quit and try to launch it a second time, it starts to boot and then goes back to the Finder.
I have no idea what it means, but Console informs me:
Corel Painter Essentials 3(343,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** Deallocation of a pointer not malloced: 0xffffffff; This could be a double free(), or free() called with the middle of an allocated block; Try setting environment variable MallocHelp to see tools to help debug
Corel Painter Essentials 3(343,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** Deallocation of a pointer not malloced: 0xffffffff; This could be a double free(), or free() called with the middle of an allocated block; Try setting environment variable MallocHelp to see tools to help debug
Now, I appreciate that this is all third party software and thus outside of Apple's control but, yet again, I am confronted with more circumstances where it doesn't just fucking work.
Now I have to go to the trouble and expense of arranging a return of this damn tablet to the vendor.
Every time I have asked this fucking machine to do anything more taxing that surf the web or handle e-mail, the bloody thing has let me down. I'm actually ready to take a hammer to the thing, such is my frustration.
Am I missing a blindingly obvious fix, or have overlooked some stupid settings, or is this just one more thing where I have to accept the failure of this machine to work correctly?
Grrr.
